You can follow the article below if you are having issues with how your recommendations are extracted from your reports (using eSCRIBE's Report Manager module):

  1. Typing directly to report, use formatting tools to add numbered/bulleted list
Typing the report manually is the recommended way of adding content to a report, however, building a nested list can sometimes be challenging.

We recommend always using the tools available in the “Paragraph” formatting tool in MS Word when creating a list:mceclip0.png
  • Bullets, Numbers, and, Multi-level list ensure that your list has the proper tags for extraction

  • You can create a multi-level list using the “Indent” buttons:

The increase indent button will create a sub-item mceclip3.png

While the increase indent button mceclip4.png allows you to continue the main numbering/bulleting
Creating lists in MS Word when NOT using these formatting tools can cause issues because MS Word does not always add the correct tagging in the document and copy/pasting can be problematic.
  •  Copy-Pasting
This is another form of inputting data into your Report documents. We can use this, but it is not always recommended. Copy-Pasting from one source to another, specially another report or Word document, can bring over hidden formatting that we don’t see.

An example here is when copy pasting a recommendation from a previous report to another. We use a tag for recommendations called "eRecommendations" to be able to extract the information. Copy-pasting can bring over the original tag on top of the existing tag in the report. When this happens, the information is extracted twice.

If copy-pasting cannot be avoided, we then suggest that users paste just the plain text or the “Keep Text Only” option.

This will ensure that the recommendation tag from the original report is not pasted in the new report.

This does mean that the text needs to be formatted again-created into a list again. Which then brings us back to the first point of using the formatting tools in MS Word.
