Make eSCRIBE a Trusted Site & Remove Login Prompt for Word
Site should be in Trusted sites. If user keeps on getting password prompts when opening Reports (only applies for users of the Report Manager module (Contributors) then User Authentication needs to be set to “Automatic logon with current user name and password”.
- Open your Internet Options by opening it from your control panel, or by simply searching from Windows search bar
- The ‘Internet Options’ window will open. Click on the 'Security' tab. Click on ‘Trusted Site’ and click on ‘Sites’.
- Add the sites URL to the zone by clicking on the ‘Add’ button. Click on ‘Close’ and ‘OK’ to get back to the ‘Internet options’ window.
- From the ‘Internet Options’ screen, click on the ‘Security’ tab. Click on ‘Trusted Sites’ and the ‘Custom level…’ button.
- The Security Settings window will open. Scroll to the very bottom of the Settings and under ‘User Authentication’ ’Logon’, click on 'Automatic logon with current user name and password'. Click on ‘OK’ and a Warning box will appear asking the user to confirm changes.
*This setting will send your eScribe password through to Word to remove the prompts for login when opening reports.*
IE/Office Integration
Setting required for users of Report Manager (contributors) when getting SharePoint foundation error: "A Microsoft SharePoint Foundation compatible application could not be found to edit the document" when opening Reports.
Note: this error only seems to appear in older version of MS Office, if you are able to open Word documents though Report Manager, this setting is not necessary for you.
- Check Office is installed on the computer
- Check if their Office is 32 bit or 64 bit.
- Start a Microsoft Office program (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Click the "File" tab in the ribbon.
- Then click "Account"
- On the right, you should see an "About" button, click it.
- In pop up window you should see the version of Word you are using.
Note: 64 bit Office do not have required IE add-on for SharePoint integration
- From within an open Internet Explorer window, click on ‘Tools’ and click on ‘Manage Add-ons’.
- Ensure that the computer has 'SharePoint OpenDocuments Class' and/or 'Document File handler' enabled. If it is Disabled, click the row and click the "Enable" button.
Note: If you are receiving the error message noted above and do not see the 'SharePoint OpenDocuments Class' Add-on at all, please speak with your IT, and/or reference the Microsoft help below:
